The caliper (thickness of a single sheet of paper) depends on grammage and bulk. Natural papers with high bulk (e.g. DANUBE, CLAIRBOOK , ALSTER, ASPERO, CREATIVE Print) feel rough. This haptic is desired and gives a special feeling. For book production the caliper plays a more important part than for other EDITORIAL or CORPORATE projects. The caliper determines the size of the book block. In contrast for business equipment we should consider postal optimisation, therefore high bulk and low grammage are a good feeling solution.

Book block: caliper x quantity of sheets

Bulk: caliper / grammages x 1.000

Caliper:  bulk x grammages / 1.000

GEESE’s high rack storage provides space for 10.000 paletts of our natural uncoated paper.
Our two experts for paper cutting fulfil customer’s wishes for special formats.  This service is available for every customer for a small extra charge.

Normally we don’t invoice extra delivery charges for our customers. But for following special cases extra costs arise:

- orders under 100kg: postage and packing charge 25€ for deliveries by haulage company; 6€ p&p for deliveries by DPD (for minimal quantities); sample requests are excepted
- express delivery on next day: 25€ NextDay charge for deliveries by haulage company; 6€ p&p for deliveries by DPD (for minimal quantities)
These terms are also valid for orders under 100kg.

The haulage company Dachser delivers our papers and smaller amounts we send by DPD. We supply customers from Hamburg by our own truck. Normally the delivery time of formats in stock is estimated at 2 or 3 working days. Also express delivery is possible.

As paper moves through a paper machine, the fibres align themselves parallel to the machine. This paper can be cut into sheets, it will be either long grain or short grain. The grain direction is important:

- Book production: To avoid crinkles and for a good opening behaviour, the grains should be aligned parallel to the spine.
- Creasing: the grain direction should be parallel to the fold for best results. Covers of stapled printed matters should be aligned crossways to the fold. This is how to achieve a better stiffness/strength.

LG: Long grain, grain direction parallel to the longer sheet dimension
SG: Short grain, grain direction parallel to the shorter sheet dimension

During papermaking process the paper grains align in direction of the paper machine. Therefore the manufactured roll of paper is a long grain. There are different directions of sheet formats depending on how the roll of paper is cut.
Format 72x102 LG (long grain) - grain is parallel to paper’s long side
Format 102x72 SG (short grain) - grain is parallel to paper’s short side

Our prices are graduated by amounts. Usually we don’t have a minimum quantity of trading.

Our prices include free delivery and are net costs. For most orders no extra charges will accrue.

For more information please view delivery charges.

The majority of our papers come loose but with marker.  We will be pleased to deliver your paper in handy reams for a small extra charge.

Many of papers from GEESE are 100% wood-free.  A divergence of 5%, like in the fine print of many others, is unintended. 100% wood-free means unlimited age-resistance and is an important mark of quality to protect customers and end users. For wood-free papers the fabric Lignin will be completely removed, thus the paper doesn’t yellow anymore.
